Fair Trade Tea
fair-trade-certified.jpgThe majority of products at MAG Tea are Fair Trade Certified and we support the effort to help improve conditions of tea plantation workers.  Fair Trade Certification means that these products are grown and harvested in humanitarian conditions that are socially just, free from child and slave labor, and ensure that a fair premium is paid to producers.  On a day-to-day basis, we engage in conversations with clients and consumers of tea to motivate commitment to Fair Trade and we actively encourage our suppliers, clients, and communities to join the movement.  We currently offer a widest selection of Fair Trade teas.  Our selection demonstrates that we can support Fair Trade efforts and still meet your expectations of quality, value, and consistency.

This is how the Fair Trade Labeling Organization (the international governing body for Fair Trade) defines Fair Trade practice:  "Fair Trade is a trading partnership, based on dialogue, transparency and respect, that seeks greater equity in international trade. It contributes to sustainable development by offering better trading conditions to, and securing the rights of, marginalized producers and workers – especially in the South.  Fair Trade Organizations, backed by consumers, are engaged actively in supporting producers, awareness raising and in campaigning for changes in the rules and practice of conventional international trade."  (Source: Fair Trade definition as agreed by: FLO, WFTO, NEWS! and EFTA.)

Organic Tea
Certified_Organic.jpg     USDA_ORGANIC.jpgMAG Tea works with a number of companies in the organic tea industry, and the experience gained continues to permeate MAG Tea’s culture and product offering.  We will continue to offer a large selection of organic teas.  Organic tea has consistently ranked amongst the fastest growing segments of the tea industry, and we are proud to continue our support of this growth.

QAI Organic Certification means that these products are free from exposure to pesticides or other harmful chemicals.  This is what the USDA says about organic certification:   Organic food is produced by farmers who emphasize the use of renewable resources and the conservation of soil and water to enhance environmental quality for future generations.  Organic food is produced without using most conventional pesticides; fertilizers made with synthetic ingredients or sewage sludge; bioengineering; or ionizing radiation. Before a product can be labeled "organic," a Government-approved certifier inspects the farm where the food is grown to make sure the farmer is following all the rules necessary to meet USDA organic standards.  (Source: USDA Consumer Brochure: Organic Food Standards and Labels: The Facts)

Non-Organic Teas
eco_certified_rainforest_alliance.pngIt is MAG Tea’s privilege to offer a selection of the world's most coveted teas.  We have partnered with tea companies that have demonstrated integrity and expertise, and the result is our wide selection of conventional, non-organic, specialty teas from multiple origins.   While the supply of organic teas is growing, non-organic tea continues to be the primary source of tea.  We make a good attempt to identify non-organic teas from tea estates that use a minimum of chemicals, usually limited only to the use of nitrogen.  Most of our teas are from high elevation tea estates where their no need for use of pesticides.  As well, most of our non-organic teas are Rain Forest Certified.  Indeed, the non-organic tea industry includes a wide array of classic and specialty tea profiles.
